NCFE CACHE Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services

A leadership diploma for people who manage practice and lead others in children and young people's services. It offers two pathways, Management and Advanced Practice, covering safeguarding and protection, policy, managing care services and change programmes, quality systems and improvement, partnership working and best practice.

Twelve months, studied fully online. Intakes are on request, so an advisor arranges your start date. Teaching includes live interactive lectures, recorded sessions you can watch offline, seminars and workshops, with assignments submitted for each module assessment, all through an online platform you can use from anywhere.

The minimum entry age is 19 and you must hold a Level 3 qualification or above in a related field. You also need to be working as a Deputy or Manager in an appropriate setting, or to have the opportunity to carry out the responsibilities associated with those roles.

Management and Advanced Practice. Between them the pathways cover safeguarding and protection, developing and carrying out policy, managing care services, change programmes and recruitment, promoting and developing best practice, supporting development and partnership working, care management, and quality systems and improvement. You choose the pathway that suits your role.

Seventeen units. They include using and developing systems that promote communication, promoting professional development, championing equality, diversity and inclusion, health and safety and risk management, partnership working, child and young person development, safeguarding policies, a research project, professional supervision, leading and managing a team, and appraising staff performance.

Entry requires a Level 3 qualification or above in a related field, so it is a next step for practitioners who already hold one.
